Vs Nokia: Case Set For Final Court Hearing
The stage is set for the final court hearing involving rap act, 2shots
and Nokia Corporation over Intellectual Rights infringement. The rappers
minders have also been making some noise in the media as the final court
hearing beckons.
In a statement released by Umunamu Entertainment, it was revealed that
Nokia has refused to pay for damages for the past 6 years.
“We wish to bring to your notice an update on the infringement case
filed by Umunnamu's CEO, 2shotz, against Nokia Corporation and Nokia West
Africa Nigeria Ltd.
“You all must have been aware that it's been about 6years now since the
Nokia Phone Company infringed on 2shotz's copyright of his musical works.
“Three records("Come Again Remix", "Fear Fear",
"Abia Anthem") off his 2004 "Commercial Avenue" album were
put up in the default media play list of the phone (Nokia X3) without prior
notice to 2shotz Or his Management.
“However since the case was filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos,
Nokia has been tossing and turning to avoid paying for damages, hence delaying
the whole court process.
“The case was filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos and we are now at
the final stage of the court hearing”, the statement read in full.
