You seem to be making appearances at almost every major social event. Why does it seem like you're everywhere?
In recent times I have been up and doing but I am also the out going type. I love it that way; at least I get to network and meet more industry players at high profile events.
Tell me about some jobs you've done recently and what to watch out for?
I have done loads of movies in recent times that are not yet out. But my recent works that are out are movies such as Strippers In Love, Strippers War, Pinging Girls Verse White Angels, Cat In The Palace. James Town, Boys of Amagidon and 9 Disciples. There's one that will be out very soon titled Perpetual Hindrance. I have done close to a dozen jobs in recent times.
How come a guy as handsome as you is not yet romantically linked to any lady?
(Laughs) I love to keep my relationship private. It is a something I really don't like to talk about on the pages of newspapers. It is my privacy and it should remain that way.
What was it like when you first fell in love?
I'd also like to keep that part of my life private too. I wouldn't like my comments to be blown out of proportion.
How do you contain your female fans and admirers?
I am used to it having female fans around. Ever since I was young, I have always been told that I am fine and sexy. You no. I won the sexiest student awards in my second year in the university. I was also among the finalists at the Vanguard Sexiest Nollywood Actor Competition. Just last week I won Karis Media Award as the Sexiest Nollywood Actor. So it is natural that someone like me is attracted to the opposite sex. I am not a wayward person when it comes to women. I believe in sticking to one partner at a time.
What turns you off in a lady?
Girls that are lazy turns me off. I like hardworking ladies because finance backing turns me on.
Which actress do you enjoy working with the most?
There are so many of them but the one that readily comes to my mind is Queen Nwokoye. I love her acting skills especially the way she delivers her line. She is a good character interpreter.
Modeling or acting, which is more fulfilling for you?
I started modeling before I veered into acting. Modeling started for me at the age of 16. My first modeling job was at thesame time too. I was on a telecommunication billboard bold in Enugu. It was everywhere, in local newspapers, on rollar banners, lorries, cars and flyers. It was a total package. I also modeled for Zain, Wema Bank, Nestle Table Water and Gold Circle condoms. They paid me heavily for my efforts but as a upcoming Nollywood actor, the pay is not all that impressive. Modeling pays me better for now than acting but acting gives me the leverage for bigger modeling jobs.
Have you been involved in any other jobs or career outside the entertainment industry?
I have passion for making people look good; I have a unisex saloon in Enugu known as Colectibus Unisex Saloon. It is located at No 27 Owerri Road, Asata, Enugu. We render beauty services for men and women and I also have a unisex clothing line known as Mr Packaging.
What future plans do you have in the pipeline?
My major plan for the near future is to increase my beauty parlor and my clothing line. Then help try as much as possible to help upcoming models.
You have been severally misrepresented by the media but you seem to have grown a thick skin against misleading or negative comments and rumours about you?
Yes. I played a gay role in 3 different movies and I did it well. So most people summed up that I am gay. I don't blame it on them because sometimes people find it hard to separate you from the character you play at times. Sometimes, I don't understand that mentality too. I believe peoples opinion will not put food on my table. I get paid for doing my job and it is either you like me or you hate me. Choice is yours. I love my life period. Am a happy man.
How were you able to manage the perception about your sexuality especially when you played a gay role in the movie titled Pregnant Hawkers?
As I have said and will say again; I only played my part in that movie and if anyone miss quotes that fact, then it is none of my business. It was just a movie and I was only interpreting my lines.
What does it feel like going through so much stress all in the name of acting?
Acting is my way of life and it is part of me. It is not stress for me at all. I enjoy and I even dream about it every now and then.
Is the money worth it? And has being on TV changed your life?
Its fun for me but it has not changed my social life. I am still Benson I still go to the market myself. I don't put money first; I am still me, jovial, friendly and down to earth. You can ask those who know me well.
Was acting what you wanted to do from the beginning?
Yes! I have always wanted to act. I started acting in my primary school and secondary way back before I joined Nollywood professionally in 2007. I have been part of over 50 movies and am still counting. I have won two awards. It has been an interesting journey for me thus far in the world of entertainment.
