The Coalition of South-West Youth Groups CSWYG (a coalition of South-West youth organisations) have thrown their weight behind President Goodluck Jonathan's re-election bid.
Though, at the World Press Conference staged at the Campaign the Defence of Human Rights CDHR secretariat in Ikeja, the group noted that Nigeria is still far from attaining basic expectations in infrastructural development, it is sure that President Jonathan is the best man to rule Nigeria in the next political dispensation.
"To say the truth, Nigeria is still from attaining basic expectations in infrastructural development, educational growth, security, agriculture, commerce and industry, power and transportation. But she has evolved over the years from those dark days into her present democratic experimentation of hope and aspiration, the group said through its Coordinator, Babalola Medayedupin.
The group based its endorsement on President Jonathan's ongoing programmes and projects as it touches the Nigerian youths through his numerous Youth Empowerment programmes such as: The YouWin Program Grant, Sure-P Graduate Internship Scheme, FERMA Sure-P Program, Community Service Scheme and the Youth Employment in Agriculture Program (YEAP) among others.
"The socio-economic condition and the stability of the country are facing fierce and intense pressure beyond the comprehension of political scholars to the extent that it has become quite hard to proffer a wholesome solution. This unfortunate state, from all indications, is a reflection of accumulated bitterness, neglect, rejection, and perpetual impoverishment- a burden of inheritance. The evident consequences can only be managed by leaders with requisite foresight and acumen.
"Nigeria is better for the decision taken some years back. It is on this premise again that The Coalition of South West Youth Groups (CSWYG) has deemed it fit to embrace continuity, sustainability and development that is informed by genuineness of purpose and transformation with a human face." Babalola said.
