The People's Democratic Party (PDP) Ward2Ward Initiative, Ogun State chapter, has embarked on a project aimed at alleviating poverty among youths of the state.
Tagged 'Jonathan Ogun State Youth Empowerment Program', the initiative is expected to have at least 3,000 beneficiaries to begin with.
Thousands of Ogun State youths participated in the empowerment program, which commenced today, Monday, 9 February at the Abeokuta Sports Club, Ibara-Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The beneficiaries will receive vocational trainings and lectures from appointed professionals before being giving financial and material support to start their own business.
Some of the categories the training would cover include; photography, soap making, food/bread & cake making, laundry business, beads & hat making, agriculture; fishery, poultry & animal husbandry. Others include barbing & beauty therapy, vulcanising & block making.
Bashorun Babatunde, the Ogun State Coordinator of PDP Ward2Ward Initiative, said beneficiaries of the program will be picked in all Ogun State wards and local governments, and they are expected to be within 18 to 50 years old.
Joseph Yobo, Ex-Super Eagles skipper, is the Brand Ambassador of the PDP Ward2Ward Initiative.
