Stars Turn-Up For Kidney Awareness Walk

In a bid to create more knowledge about Kidney disease, scores of celebrities turned up to join Emma Ugolee and the Juliet Ibrahim Foundation for the Kidney Diseases Awareness walk which took place in Victoria Island, Lagos on the 21st of March.

The exercise was to create awareness and to sensitize people about the disease that affects majority of mankind across the world.

A consultant nephrologist ‎Dr Adebowale Adewunmi was on ground to highlight the dangers of the disease hammering on the fact that if the disease is discovered early, its progression can be halted, adding that most times the kidney is oftentimes 70% gone before the disease is discovered and in an advanced stage when it is already late.

Kidney disease is a deadly disease which is expensive to maintain because if the kidneys fail, treatment such as dialysis or a kidney transplant are the only options to help people live longer and healthier lives.

Diabetes and high blood pressure are the two leading causes of kidney failure. Live a healthy lifestyle to prevent diabetes and high blood pressure. If you already have diabetes or high blood pressure, control them to prevent chronic kidney disease!

Some of those present at the walk include; Monalisa China, Desmond Elliot, Julius Agwu, AY Comedian, Praiz, Sound Sultan, Yaw, Audu Maikori, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and a host of others.
