Sex For Movie Role Is A Thing of Choice- Blessing Patrick

Sultry fair-skinned actress Blessing Patrick has come a long way as a bubbly thespian. The talented actress who has featured in a hand full of movies opens up on her career, life and relationship in this interview with AHMED BOULOR.

You recently volunteered to pay the school fees of some students sometime ago; what made you do that?

I am a covenant child with God at the centre of my mission. Part of my strive is to care for kids and encourage the less privileged never to give up hope. I believe such encouragement should begin with helping to fund their education. When I was growing up as an only child, I used to cry to my mum for help and support whenever I found out that any of my friends did not report to school. So I guess that part of me has developed and I have continued to see to it that I help less privileged kids by paying their fees whenever they encounter difficulties in that stead.

You have developed the habit of giving back to society. Are you being generous just because some of your colleagues in the movie industry are doing thesame?

Giving back to the society is not just  because I am generous, I have a constant burning desire to impact in the lives of less privileged kids. My desire to make an impact is the main reason of my giving back to the society.

Have you played your most challenging movie role yet?

I have been part of quite a number of movie productions and I must confess that I have not played my most challenging role just yet. I think I have a long way to go to get there. My most challenging role is yet to come.

How have you been able to remain relevant on the movie scene ever since you made your first appearance?

It has not been easy but I am still doing what I have to do to remain relevant on the movie scene. God has been by my side because I must confess I have not been really consistent on the scene due to a lot of projects at hand now.

Which movie gave you your biggest break?

I would say all the movies I have been part of are good but people seem to like 'Sexy Vampires', 'My World' and 'Tears of Mother In-law'.

Was your ambition to become an actress for money, fame or professional fulfillment?

My ambition to become an actress was to bring my desire to pass and create an impact which I am trusting God for. My ambition was not propelled by the money or fame.

Has acting been a lucrative venture for you thus far?

Well I can't complain; at least I get to pay my bills and I am able to afford my needs. It has been worth the while but it can be better.

Do you have any unrealised dreams as a budding actress?

I have so many unrealised dreams which I hope to achieve in the coming years. I would not elaborate on them though because they are personal.

What's your opinion about sex for movie roles which has become rampant in Nollywood?

It is a common factor in the industry but sex is a thing of choice. Nobody can force you to do what you don't want to do. Those who have a covenant with Christ understand better.

As an actress, are there some roles you consider as 'forbidden'?

I can't tell which role I can forbid until I seek God's face. I can only forbid to take a role when I seek God's face and he does not give me a go-ahead.

What are your thoughts on going nude on set?

It is no big deal because going nude on set is based on the role you are trying to impact or interprete as an actor. Where I have a problem with it is when you expose sensitive parts of your body onset for no significant reason.

Are you in any serious relationship?

I am not in any serious relationship at the moment but I have admirers and I am trusting God for the right person.

What's characteristics should your ideal man possess?

My ideal man must fear God and respect God's image which is man. He must be a teacher, a true friend and a back bone spiritually and physically.

What do you consider to be the meaning of love?

Love I understand has plenty of meanings. But I consider sacrifice as the best definition of love.

What do you consider to be your selling point as an actress?

My selling point I believe is what the ordinary eye cannot see. It is the grace of God inside of me and his favour.

What was growing u like for you?

Growing up was great. I  learn't so much from my mom because I was the only child, so I was like my mum's friend.

What were the challenges you faced as an upcoming actress?

Challenges never stop as far as you are still alive on earth. The most important thing is that God keeps giving us the grace to over come challenges.
