When New Afrika Shrine Came Alive For ‘Fela Day Celebration’

The vast premises of the New Africa Shrine was abuzz last weekend when fun seekers and lovers of Afrobeat trooped out in their numbers to honour Fela Anikulapo-Kuti- the late Afrobeat legend.
The event tagged ‘Fela Day Celebration’ was staged by New Afrika Shrine in conjunction with Street Media on August 1st and 2nd and it turned out to be a memorable event altogether.
The event started 3 years ago to honour of the late Afro beat creator, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. The first night of the event saw cameo performances by established and up and coming hip hop artistes such as Oritsefemi, Small Doctor, Adekunle Gold, the YBNL Nation crew, Danagog, the Afrobeat Orchestra, Young Kay, Daboi, Tee High and the HKN crew among others while DJ Flamzy dished out music that set the audience into exciting fits.
The event was described by many at the event as a positive way to celebrate a man who after 18 years of his demise, still stands tall in the memory of many as his music keeps pervading every nook and cranny while his prophesies keep resurfacing.
