The Royal Diadem Chorale of the Global Cherubim & Seraphim Church launched its first choral and orchestral audio CD at the weekend. The album titled 'Sacred hymns of the Global C@S Church (Yoruba Edition 1), is produced and directed by Most Senior Apostle Sunday Adewusi. He is the Organist/Director of Music of the church.
Speaking at the event to also mark the 90th C&S anniversary, the convener Adewusi described the music production as needful to make the church music more sacred, respected and more in tune with biblical times.
Describing C&S music as different from orthodoxy, Adewusi noted that the coming together of various C&S church choirs to produce the maiden church musical CD was deliberate.
"We actually want to correct some imbalances: to enjoy music without too much percussion. People don't respect C&S church when it comes to church music. It is perceived not sacred enough because of secular style of music introduced. Anglican music is done in sacred manner. So it is time for C&S sound to go choral, with tenor, bass and full orchestral complement for global acceptability."
Apostle General J.O.Ajomu, organist and choir master of the Ebute Meta arm of the church lauded Adewusi's efforts in successful production of the music album.
He also urged Nigerians, particularly youths to take cognisance of their environment and report any suspicious characters to security agencies as the country celebrates 55th anniversary.
On President Muhammadu Buhari's anti-corruption campaign, Adewusi described it as necessary for the country. Stressing that Buhari is doing well and merely needs more time to address the nation's numerous challenges, the minister called on every Nigerian to give their support as all, including future generations, would benefit from it.
