Following
a recent publication linking chief Olabode George to some alleged
grievances of Sure-P members, the ex Chairman of the Nigerian Ports
Authority has refuted such allegations describing them as 'absolute
lunacy'.
Speaking at his Ikoyi residence, the politician said the allegations being peddled around are the handiwork of mischief makers.
"The
allegations by Sure-P employees is most vicious and wicked. It is
outrageous, cruel and outrightly libellous. It is callous and outlandish
mischief making. It is a wild thrashing in the wind, a desperate
grasping for scapegoat. But this idiocy will never work."
The
former vice-chairman southwest zone of the People's Democratic Party
(PDP) also went further to make some clarifications in a bid to clear
his name.
"I never in
the past authorise, employ or mobilise anyone as Sure-P workers. I also
never at anytime encouraged anyone to levy anybody or extort any party
member under the guise of dubious employment scheme.
"When
it was reported to us that some people were being recruited into a
Sure-P employment scheme in Lagos, we responded promptly that the outfit
is illegal and without government approval. We encouraged various
disclaimers in the newspapers by the legitimate Sure-P in Abuja to put
the matter to rest. Equally, the official South-West FERMA leadership
also put an advertorial both in the newspapers and electronic media to
dissociate the party from and Sure-P employment scheme. This is a matter
of public record." He said.
Chief
Bode George also remarked that it is most sad and sickening when
unscrupulous characters motivated by partisan venom and destructive
vendetta start to peddle malice and wild incoherent allegations to score
cheap political points.
"Those
who were fleeced know the odious characters who took money from them.
They should name and shame them directly rather than dragging innocent
people into the mud," he added.
