Learn Africa Foundation Donates To Dr Adadevoh Health Trust

The Board of the Learn Africa Education Development Foundation through its Chairman, Mr. Emeka Iwerebon recently donated the sum of one million Naira (N1,000,000) to Dr. Stella Adadevoh Healthcare Trust.

The presentation which was staged in the Board room of establishment saw Bankole Cardoso, late Dr. Adadevoh's only son, receive the donation in the presence of other Board members and the press.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Emeka Iwerebon described the late Dr. Adadevoh as a selfless humanitarian who put her life on the line to prevent the spread of the dreaded Ebola virus in Nigeria.

"I do not, by any stretch of imagination, think that there is anyone here today that has not become familiar with the name Dr Ameyo Stella Adadevoh. Her name came into national consciousness by her heroism and her rare display of bravery, patriotism and selfless commitment to her professional calling, having spared this nation of an epidemic calamity of unimaginable proportion. Sadly, she paid the supreme price.

"Dr. Adadevoh was a member of the Board of this great company, Learn Africa Plc (formerly Longman Nigeria Plc), as well as a Trustee of its corporate social responsibility arm, the Learn Africa Education Development Foundation.

"The foundation is donating the sum of one million Naira to the Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadovoh Trust, a Healthcare Trust, endowed by her immediate family to honor her memory and keep her heroic act of selflessness in our consciousness." Mr. Emeka added.

In his response after receiving the donation which came in the form of a cheque, Bankole Cardoso thanked the board for honouring his late mum with the donation.

"I'd like to use this opportunity to thank the Board of the Learn Africa Education Development Foundation for this laudable gesture. It is unfortunate that my mum had to pay the ultimate price due to the initial outbreak of the Ebola virus after the index carrier arrived Nigeria.

"I am hoping that this donation goes a long way to help immortalise my mum through activities of the Health Trust."

The late Stella Adadevoh is being widely praised for risking her life to ensure a more devastating outbreak of the dreaded Ebola virus was averted.

Nigeria had never had an Ebola case before so it was an impressive piece of diagnostic work and while caring for Mr. Sawyer and protecting the nation from the deadly virus.

That risk resulted in Dr. Stella Adadevoh alongside 11 of her other colleagues contracting the dreaded virus which resulted in their deaths.
