On Tuesday 21st June 2016 the General Overseer of the
Redeemed Christian Church ofGod (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye paid a courtesy call
to United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, in order to explore
opportunities for the UN system to leverage the influence of the RCCG and its
leadership in facilitating inter-faith harmony and peace, creating a conducive
environment for action towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs).
Pastor Adeboye in his address stresses the critical nature
of global peace and development which forward thinking (or like-minded) stakeholders
and the United Nations genuinely seek. He also stated that The Redeemed Christian
Church of God is intensely focused on impacting the entire global community
positively through the platform of its Christian faith and values. Insisting
that the church, remains acutely aware of the need to go beyond business as
usual to reach (and continue to engage) the youthful population.
Pastor Adeboye further assures that he and the body of Christ
will continue to step up to the challenge of providing above board leadership,
which permits Christians worldwide to serve as a strong moral compass and voice
for the society, speaking for the marginalized and disadvantaged while holding
all stakeholders including the Body of Christ accountable to the population we
serve.
Pastor Adeboye promises to continue to reach out to people
of all faith and religious divide, to build the bridges necessary for
sustainable peace and development.
He also insisted that RCCG remains open to working with
institutions like the United Nations and other agencies in order to achieve our
common vision for the world.
In conclusion, Pastor Adeboye, expressed his heartfelt gratitude
to the UN Secretary for an excellent service during his tenure.
